Xiersen Service Center and Active Kidz Shanghai (AKS) have formed a strategic community partnership to deliver activities and events throughout 2018.

Xiersen is a Shanghai-registered NGO dedicated to improving the special education system in China for Chinese people through educational projects and activities. Xiersen’s AGame project aims to strengthen the local community by creating inclusive activities and events that raise awareness and understanding about children with special needs, whilst reinforcing that they are children first. In 2018, AGame will focus on careers in the special education field, highlighting the importance of the professionals that support special education care and how there is a huge demand in China for more specialists in this field.

Established in 1998, AKS is a community-based organization dedicated to providing local and international youth in Shanghai with a healthy environment for sports training. AKS works with various schools, community partners, and sponsors to service the Shanghai community. With its foundation of professional coaches, parent volunteers, and dedicated members of the community, AKS has been able to provide quality sports training to over 4,000 children across Shanghai for the past 20 years.

Nikki Lindgren, general manager of Xiersen, expresses her excitement and anticipation of the year ahead: “Xiersen is extremely excited to begin a formal partnership with an organization such as AKS. It is of utmost importance to invest in activities that positively impact our children’s mental and physical health while teaching them the importance of fun, competition and playing by the rules. We are proud to partner with AKS, combining two important causes: physical activity with a community-minded focus and inclusiveness for children of all abilities.”

Wallace Wong, general manager of AKS, is also delighted about the upcoming partnership with Xiersen. “We are very happy to be a part of Xiersen’s dedication to children with special needs. The special education initiatives Xiersen supports are very important, especially in China where special needs awareness is still in the early stages. We believe sport is an effective vehicle for both the physical and mental development of children, and we look forward to supporting Xiersen’s passion for special education in this partnership.”

Xiersen and AKS will support one another at upcoming events and are looking forward to the collaborations ahead.
