On Saturday, October 28, 2017, we welcomed over 100 educators, who came not just from Shanghai, but also all the way from Nanjing, Changzhou, and even Beijing! This free training day was themed around Early Years Communication with ELG specialists offering their expertise to teachers hungry to learn more about how they can best support their students.
Jing Chiu, occupational therapist, delivered an informative talk on dyspraxia, how to identify it, and what strategies teachers can implement in the classroom to support children with dyspraxia.
Joy Fan, applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapist, spoke about effective methods to teach social communication to young children with ASD.
Davy Guo, clinical psychologist, hosted a session on self-care for teachers, and at the end guided attendees through meditation.
Narae Hyun, speech-language pathologist and clinical psychologist, dispelled myths about bilingualism, multilingualism and language acquisition, and offered approaches to teaching bilingual students.
Siyang Sun, speech-language therapist, ran an engaging workshop with real-life case studies of situations involving young children with language difficulties and encouraging discussion from participants on how to support them.
Dr. Guanghai Wang, clinical psychologist and sleep specialist, gave a practical talk on how to identify ADHD and presented instructional strategies to manage ADHD in the classroom.
Feedback for our PDD was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees commenting:
All sessions went high above my expectations. The expertise shared in the sessions I attended was valuable, useful, and practical for my classroom. I can implement the suggestions on Monday. Thank you!
