“We did it!! 100, 100, 100!!”

We are proud to announce that Xiersen, our sister NGO, broke through the 100,000 RMB mark during the recent Tencent 99 Fundraiser!

‘Tencent 99’ is an influential charity event launched by Tencent, the owners of Wechat, held annually in China between September 7 and September 9. During the event, donations are matched randomly by Tencent at select periods of time over the 3 days. This was Xiersen’s big fundraising initiative of the year!

Before the event, ELG Management announced that to show support for our sister NGO, ELG would match all staff donations made during the 3-day campaign. Having built up anticipation leading up to this big fundraising event, donations came pouring in the moment it officially began. During the campaign we saw ELG staff doing their part to help. From the management team to room assistants, admin staff and specialists alike, all contributed to show their support to Xiersen. It was truly encouraging to watch donations coming in throughout the 3 days and to see the ELG staff sharing in the excitement. On the final donation matching day, ELG matched donations with an additional 9,000 RMB, an amount which helped break beyond the 100,000 RMB.

On the final donation matching day, the total from staff-matched donations saw ELG contributions add 9,000 RMB, an amount which helped the total break beyond 100,000RMB.

Besides strong support from ELG, Xiersen’s advisory board and partner, Nuan Xing, also rose to the occasion! Xiersen was delighted to see many championing the cause and spreading the word to gain support from their wider networks. This is the second time Xiersen has participated in Tencent 99’s fundraising initiative and Xiersen is exceptionally proud to have exceeded the 100,000 RMB mark. Furthermore, the amount raised this year is close to doubling what was raised last year (58,252 RMB).

Xiersen’s founder, Andrew Hill, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all supporters sharing that, “Guys, we broke the 100,000 RMB mark with your help, thank you from the bottom of my heart”.

Xiersen would like to sincerely thank ELG, Xiersen’s Advisory Board, Nuan Xing and everyone who contributed during Tencent 99!

With the funds raised, Xiersen looks forward to supporting more projects and continuing to “Improve the condition of special education in China for Chinese people“. Their latest project SEA (Special Educators Abroad) brings specialists from all over the globe to local special needs schools or centers to mentor, coach, and share their knowledge in order to empower Special Educators in China.  Follow Xiersen on WeChat for their latest events and projects!
