Joanne is an experienced mental health counselor who is passionate about working with adolescents, young adults, and families of children with special needs. She is a US National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a member of the Psychology and Counseling Honor Society at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Johns Hopkins University. Joanne believes in using an integrated therapeutic approach, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychoeducation, self-exploration and value searching, to best meet each clients’ needs. Her expertise also extends to crisis management, grief and loss therapy, meditation, mindfulness, play and family therapy. Before joining ELG, Joanne worked at a private counselling center in Beijing, Peking University, Kennedy Krieger Institute and Lighthouse Community Mental Health Center providing mental health services to children and families. Connecting with her clients and helping them achieve their goals brings Joanne true satisfaction and meaning in her work.
