This past Saturday, November 30th, was ELG’s first family social event to BIOFarm! Families had a wonderful day learning about the farming community and how the vegetables in our supermarkets are grown!

We spent the first portion of the event on an ecological tour, where we learned about the different variety of vegetables, flowers, and plants. Then we took a break for lunch where we had a delicious and nutritious curry dish! BIOFarm was kind enough to offer us a complimentary warm apple drink made from fresh apples that were grown on the farm! It was truly such a treat, drinking this warm drink in the chilly weather. Next, we planted a mint leaf in our own cute little pot.

The most exciting part of this event was picking fresh seasonal vegetables like lettuce, bell peppers, and radishes to bring home! The radishes were massive in comparison to the ones we would commonly see in our supermarkets because they were grown organically. To cap off this eventful day, we got to pet and feed farm animals. The bunnies, goats, and sheep were so welcoming and soft!

Thank you to all the families for joining us and filling BIOFarm with all your smiles and laughter. We look forward to our next family social event in the Spring when the weather will be a bit warmer!
