Lucia received her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and her master’s degree in counseling psychology from Argosy University, in the US. She is currently a professional member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), with a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) designation, and is also working towards licensure in California as a marriage and family therapist.
Before embarking on a career in counseling, Lucia worked in telecommunications and advertising. She trained as a counselor at Trinity Counseling Center in Oakland, California and went on to practice at China Hope Center in Beijing and Community Center Shanghai. Lucia has experience in providing counseling to individuals living with stress, anxiety, depression, cultural adjustment challenges, family conflicts, and social issues inside and outside of the workplace. She also provides pre-marital and marriage counseling, as a facilitator for the Prepare/Enrich marriage assessment. She primarily utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and is developing proficiency in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) for individuals. Lucia is also a member of the Shanghai International Mental Health Association (SIMHA).
As a counselor at ELG, Lucia provides counseling for individuals, families, and couples, in English and Mandarin. She also supports students with social-emotional needs at schools partnered with ELG.
Lucia is passionate about helping people navigate through situational and emotional difficulties, in order to find opportunities to lessen pain, gain hope and discover solutions.
